When leaving the eighth grade I was faced with a hard decision. I had to decide where I was going to go for high school. My choices were either my home school of Buena High School, or the newer Foothill Technology High School. A difficult decision was ahead of me, but I had to choose.
I fell into a clouded state of mindless decisions and thoughts. My brother, Cody Cook, had gone to Buena High, while my next door neighbor, Shawn Jacobs, is attending Foothill Tech. this year as a sophomore. Buena is mostly sports and social, while Foothill is all academics. I love sports and friends, yet I feel my academics are just as important. I had no idea what to do.
My heart and head were in a weird battle against each other. My heart wanted me to go to Buena and follow in my brothers footsteps. Have fun in high school and make tons of friends. Yet my head had a different view of high school for me. My head wanted me to go to Foothill and get a good education so I could succeed later in life. Go to that nerd school so it looks better on my college resume. But Buena has a metal shop, yet Foothill has pods.
I needed to do some research. Asking my neighbor about Foothill, I found it wasn’t just that nerd school, but a social school as well. You can still make hundreds of friends even though the school is not that huge. It may not have a metal shop on its campus, but you can take metal shop and any class at the college that Foothill doesn’t offer at the college. Knowing all of this my choice began to become clear. Sitting down with my parents I told them I would like to try and attend Foothill Technology High School. After waiting for a few weeks the letter finally came in the mail and my heart began to beat a lot harder than usually does. Opening the letter my heart jumped. I had been accepted to Foothill Tech.
In conclusion, I wrote this essay for Mr. Geib’s class to prove that I go to Foothill Technology High School.
